Forvis Mazars offers a world-class audit experience with deep knowledge of the banking sector. If you join Financial Services Banking, you will be part of a brilliant team that delivers vital services to our clients. You will build your knowledge and understanding of the financial services banking market, by working on a broad range of client engagements. Our clients consist of overseas banks and UK challenger banks. These cover a range of banking activity such as retail banking, commercial banking, private banking (including wealth management), merchant banking, and investment banking. We also work with building societies, leasing, asset backed lending, payment service providers, and security brokers.

About the role
As a an apprentice here's what will await you during your four-year training contract:

As you progress, you'll take on increasingly complex audit work, such as; revenue recognition, valuation, and risk assessments. You'll also take ownership of audit engagements by taking a leading role in their delivery. You'll mentor new and more junior team members, helping them to settle in and flourish. About the Risk Consulting Public & Social Sector Team
The Public and Social Sector Risk Consulting team offers internal audit, advisory and other assurance services across multiple organisations within the public & social sector. We provide our clients with clarity over the performance of their risk management processes and raise recommendations for improvement where required. Working in the public and social sector will enable you to meet and support like-minded individuals at your clients who really want to make a difference in society. You can directly contribute to supporting local communities and be involved with some of the biggest issues in society.
Public and social sector organisations are extremely important, unique and interesting. At Forvis Mazars, we work with a wide variety of organisations across the range of sub-sectors set out later in this section. As we act independently to our clients, we play an important role in supporting public scrutiny, helping to hold organisations to account, support continual improvement and striving to make society a better place. You will have the opportunity to work across a wide range of clients within the public and social sector Risk Consulting team. Our team provide distinctive audit and advisory services across the following six sectors:
Local government - We are among the top 4 firms providing internal, IT and contract audits as well as anti-fraud and corruption services to local government. The Apex Framework, delivered by Croydon Council and Forvis Mazars, provides local authorities with internal audit resources with over 40 local authorities and companies adopting the framework.
Education – Education organisations we work with include universities, sixth form colleges, academies and schools. As part of the work we do, we complete specialist funding audits, data return and legislative reviews for our education clients, as well as wider audits around the student experience, apprenticeships, safeguarding and governance, to name a few.
Central government – We work with a range of Arm's Length Bodies (ALBs) of government, who deliver and manage public services, provide advice to government and develop regulation. ALBs therefore include organisations with very specific objectives, such as museums and galleries, research institutions and regulators. Internal audits that have been completed by ForvisMazars trainees include managing collections of artworks, assessing the retail operations of gift shops, looking at grassroots sports funding across the UK, ensuring generators are held to account for managing sustainable fuel, assessing the diversity and inclusion aims of regulators and reviewing the arrangements for inspecting railways to help prevent/investigate accidents;
Housing - Housing in general, and social housing in particular, is of significant focus within the UK. ForvisMazars is the #1 provider of Internal Audit services to the social housing sector, operating across both England and Wales. We audit key risk areas such as fire safety, income collection and anti-social behaviour, providing consulting and assurance services to almost 100 clients;
Police - We provide a range of internal audits to the Office of Police & Crime Commissioners and the associated Police Force. These organisations face various challenges and are very much in the political and media spotlight for the way in which they operate. Our work adds value to the organisations by providing assurance over key areas such as corporate services areas including Finance and HR to more operational areas such as Victim Services, Firearms Licensing and Seized Property.
Charities - We provide internal audit and advisory services to a range of household name charities working across fields such as international conservation, care in the community and medical research funding. It's a fascinating sector and offers you the opportunity to work with people with strong altruistic values and to feel as though you are really making a difference. There is also some unique audit work in this area that you don't see elsewhere such as reviewing fundraising strategies and practices, raffles and lotteries, and volunteer management.

About the role
As a school leaver apprentice here's what will await you during your four-year training contract:
In this role, you will conduct internal audit reviews of our clients' operations in specific areas. You will be responsible for undertaking internal audits into individual areas of the client's business, providing recommendations that are proportionate and in line with public sector best practice. You will undertake all aspects of the internal audit from opening meeting to report writing/audit closure. The audits that you will undertake will be varied and diverse and will have a direct meaningful impact on our clients and the communities they serve. You will help them to shape their internal processes, reduce their exposure to risk and highlight the opportunities facing them.
We are now operating a hybrid working model, so as a trainee you will split your time between working from home, visiting the office, client sites when required or studying for your professional exams.

About the Risk Consulting Internal Audit team
The Financial Services Risk Consulting Team provides internal audit and other risk-based services to a range of financial services clients and is one of the largest providers within the sector. The Team works with clients across the sector including within asset & wealth management, banking, and insurance. Primarily, the team provides outsourced and co-sourced internal audit services, however also provides (or supports other teams with the delivery of) a range of risk-based engagements including board effectiveness reviews and external quality assessments, to name but a few.

About the role
The primary role of a Risk Consulting Trainee within Financial Services is to support or lead the delivery of internal audit engagements, reviewing a client's operations and providing recommendations that are proportionate, add value and are in line with industry best practice.
We are now operating a hybrid working model, so as a trainee you will split your time between working from home, visiting the office, client sites when required or studying for your professional exams. The team operates a ‘core days' approach, whereby everyone attends the office on either of the two core days defined.
During your first two years you will:
• Learn how to undertake fieldwork using a range of tools and methods in order to review and provide recommendations on the client's business operations.
• In conjunction with other members of the team, perform internal audit fieldwork remotely and at client sites, testing and reviewing exposure to risk and the effectiveness of the controls in place to mitigate risks.
• Prepare initial draft reports for management review.
• Engage directly with clients in understanding the business processes, controls, and risks affecting their business.
• Start to develop a thorough understanding of the nature of the clients' business, industry best practice, and applicable regulations.
• Be able to obtain relevant information from clients whilst building effective rapport with clients' staff.
• Attending and supporting opening and closing meetings.
During your third year you will:
• Develop greater autonomy and independence, leading audits under the guidance of a manager.
• Lead on key client interactions such as walkthrough meetings, liaising with a range of stakeholders including C-suite executives.
• Support SMEs and senior member so the team with more challenging technical audits, including consulting engagements.
• Undertake further training to enhance your skillset such as the use of data analytics tools.
• Start to work with client managers to develop and plan assignments, developing a deeper understanding of our clients.
In your fourth year, as a Senior within the team, you will be expected to take responsibility for the end-to-end audit process, guiding more junior colleagues, leading on client interactions, drafting high quality reports and supporting client managers to contribute to overall engagement success. The breadth of the work undertaken by the Team and its close links to our consulting practice means there are a range of development opportunities for talented individuals. These including starting to develop client portfolio management skills or working with our consulting practice to delivery technical engagements.

About the Risk Consulting Industry and Services team
The Risk Consulting Industry and Services team offers internal audit, advisory and other assurance services across multiple organisations. The Industry & Services team provides services to companies of varying sizes, from FTSE 350 companies, to companies with turnover of over £3bn, to smaller, privately-owned companies. The entities we work with range from manufacturing, transport, energy and utilities to those of a more services nature such as media, retail, professional services and technology. We provide our clients with clarity over the performance of their risk and internal control processes and raise recommendations for improvement where required. The team primarily provide outsourced and co-sourced internal audit services, however we also provide (or support other teams with the delivery of) a range of risk-based engagements for example enterprise risk management advisory services and external quality assessments, to name but a few.

About the Regulatory Compliance team
Insurance Risk Consulting provides a diverse range of services to our clients in the sector. Predominantly clients are from the insurance market but can also include other financial services entities such as investment firms and payment institutions. The team provides advice and guidance to clients on all aspects of financial services regulation to help them stay compliant, with the vast web of regulations applicable to the sector.
Insurance Risk Consulting has a dedicated Regulatory Compliance team focusing on conduct regulation and everything in the realm of the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and regulatory reporting overseen by the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA). The FCA's primary purpose is to protect consumers, protect the integrity of the financial system and to promote competition, in the interests of consumers. It expects regulated entities to put the consumer at the heart of their business. The PRA's primary objectives are to promote the safety and soundness of regulated entities; and more specific to insurance firms, to ensure policyholders are appropriately protected.
Our services are very much aligned to the FCA's and the PRA ‘s purpose and we help clients meet regulatory expectations – including, but not limited to, ensuring operational resilience, strengthening the compliance function and ensuring the people leading the business are competent to do so. The work is diverse, interesting and purposeful.
Examples of current projects include operational resilience reviews, consumer duty audits, complaints reviews, consumer remediation programs, regulatory reporting, fair value assessments, vulnerable customer reviews, product governance and quality assurance reviews. The team also develops training materials and delivers tailored training sessions to clients, supporting capability building and regulatory understanding.
About the role
This role is dedicated to sit within the Regulatory Compliance part of Insurance Consulting.
The role of a Junior Consultant is to support the team in delivering projects. This means assisting in all aspects of the project lifecycle; from the sales or ‘business development' process, to project planning, execution of fieldwork and preparation of deliverables including actively contributing to final recommendations.
You will be involved in non-client activities such as assisting with internal projects, research, business development initiatives and article creation. You may also be required to go on secondment to assist in client projects.

• Demonstrate foundational project management capabilities.

• Draft client-specific conclusions and recommendations based on field work and research;
