What does this team do?

Deloitte's Human Capital as a Service (HCaaS) team helps enable organisations to solve a wide range of business challenges, from HR and finance transformation to mergers and acquisitions and talent strategy. We offer clients specialised industry knowledge and leading-edge technology and business transformation services, delivered as ongoing, managed solutions. 

Human Capital as a Service professionals bring specialist skills in project and programme management, change and communications, as well as research, analytics and hands on experience of leading-edge software and applications.

Our Human Capital as a Service team is based in Belfast, Northern Ireland and sits within Deloitte’s Human Capital practice. It is the largest Human Capital Consultancy team in the UK outside of London.

The service areas our BrightStarts can join are as follows:  

Programme Management Office (PMO)

Our team of dedicated Project Management (PM) and Project Management Office (PMO) professionals provide comprehensive support for our client’s most significant and complex programmes, as well as strategically significant smaller projects.

Working closely with clients, we guide them through every stage of their projects and programmes, covering planning, risk and issue management, and performance reporting.

Our Brightstart programme cultivates future PM and PMO professionals by gaining practical experience as part of a programme’s PMO team, contributing to progress tracking, risk/issue management, and stakeholder reporting.

Transformation Activation (TA NI)

Our Transformation Activation (TA NI, otherwise known as Change Management) team is a multi-disciplinary team, that works with clients to deliver the people, behavioural and culture change associated with technology and digitally enabled business transformation. We support our clients to adapt to the changes required; ensuring they are ready, willing and able to support new ways of working. 

As part of the TA team our BrightStarts support with assessing, planning, supporting, or delivering business change, communication, engagement and training solutions that are not only innovative, but deliver the most positive impact for all.

What skills and academic qualifications do I need? 

  • You’ll need to have obtained or be studying towards at least 104 UCAS points (260 UCAS points pre-2017) for your A levels (or equivalent) to be eligible for this programme. 
  • In this role you will study towards Ulster University BSc Hons in Business Technology Degree qualification.
  • You will attend Ulster University for one day a week during term time and outside of term time you will be in our business 5 days a week.
  • This is a degree apprenticeship; therefore, you need to have not already completed a degree.

What kind of work will I do?

Every project and programme is different, but some examples of responsibilities include: ​

  • Creating a variety of high-quality materials for workshops, internal communications, project plans and progress reports.
  • Participating in project workshops and meetings alongside our clients – contributing to discussions, taking  meeting minutes and logging actions. 
  • Developing and maintaining strong client relationships by providing a responsive service, demonstrating a clear understanding of their needs and consistently meeting their expectations with your delivery skills. 
  • Providing advice and assistance to our clients, tailored to their needs. 

In addition to project work, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Proactively supporting our business development by getting involved with internal HCaaS teams including Community, Learning and Development and Wellbeing. 
  • Working on new business activities, such as bids for new client opportunities. Getting involved with our Sector communities, building out our offerings to clients and helping to promote our team to the market.
  • Our HCaaS Analyst Committee work directly with our Leadership team to ensure our Analysts Community has a voice. 

Where will I work?

At Deloitte we recognise how important face-to-face interaction is for your development in a new role. We also understand that our people need flexibility, which is why we operate a hybrid system, with a combination of office and home working. If you’re in a client-facing role, you might be expected to attend our offices or the client’s site on certain days, while your meetings will be a mix of online and in-person events. Please note your induction and some ongoing training will also be in-person, to give you the opportunity to network and build relationships. 

How will I develop? 

  • Deloitte’s BrightStart Programme gives you the opportunity to gain project-based experience, working as part of our delivery teams alongside gaining an Honours Degree at Ulster University. 
  • As well as developing core consulting skills, including critical and analytical thinking, communication and client and relationship management, you will learn new skills specific to that the team you join within HCaaS. HCaaS’ dedicated Learning & Development team ensures that a wide variety of training courses, including professionals certification such as PRINCE2 are offered to everyone. 
  • When you join, our dedicated Early Careers team will support you from your first day. You will attend our bespoke Analyst Induction Programme (AIP) where you will spend time with your peers learning about the firm, our culture and how we work. 
  • From the start you will be assigned a People Leader who will support your professional development throughout the performance year, as well as a Buddy, who will be a more informal point of contact and source of support.

What does this team do?

The Quality, Risk & Security (QRS) team makes sure Deloitte operates with honesty and integrity. We build and manage systems to control risk, prevent financial crime (like money laundering), avoid conflicts of interest with our clients, and stay independent from them. We also ensure we follow all the rules and keep our people safe. We're responsible for making sure Deloitte can continue its work by meeting all legal and regulatory requirements.

What kind of work will I do?

You will be responsible for enabling the firm to do business, while proactively managing risk to protect our clients, people, assets, and data.  This apprenticeship enables you to experience different areas in risk and security within the business, enabling you to make an informed decision about your future career. This scheme is a rotational programme, with time spent gaining experience and understanding of key areas of the firm. These can include but is not limited to the following teams:

  • Financial Crime: You will learn how to risk assess clients and help make key decisions around the clients we take on and anti-money laundering requirements.
  • Personal and Firm Independence: You’ll learn about our regulations in relation to independence and support our people to comply with these.
  • Deloitte Business and Security (DBS): Working with our DBS teams you will help protect the firm from security threats. You will learn about cyber security, data protection, crisis management, physical security, vetting and much more.
  • Strategy and Operations: Our Strategy and Operations team is headed by the firm’s Chief Financial Officer. You will work with this team and learn how they make key decisions around the firm’s operations.
  • Contentious Matters: Our in-house legal team are key to protecting the firm. You’ll work with our lawyers to understand more about the legal side to risk.
  • Service Lines: You may get the opportunity to work with one of our service lines and get a taste of what it’s like to work with clients directly.

Joining on this programme, you’ll be joining alongside another like-minded colleagues. At the start of your programme, you will be part of an induction programme where you will learn a multitude of skills to help you become ready and feel confident working with our clients. You will also receive continued professional development support via your People Leader, local rotation managers and your buddy who will be assigned to you.  There will be a clear development plan to help you progress in your careers at Deloitte and lots of opportunities to give you the best experiences and variety across the firm. You’ll be in a unique position whereby you’ll work with lots of different teams and colleagues and get a well-rounded understanding of the QRS function, setting you up for an even brighter future beyond the programme.

How will I develop?

You will complete fully funded qualifications alongside your apprenticeship which will lead you to a degree equivalent qualification at the end of the 4-year programme:

  • Level 4 ICA International Advanced Certificate in Governance, Risk and Compliance.
  • Level 6 ICA Diploma (Anti-Money Laundering/ Governance, Risk & Compliance/ Financial Crime Prevention) (Degree equivalent)
  • You will be provided 1 study day a week to focus on working towards your professional qualifications alongside paid study leave prior to exams.

You will have a network of other BrightStarts who are on the same programme alongside BrightStart Alumni who have completed the programme and moved into other permanent roles at Deloitte. You will have a dedicated People Leader to regularly check-in with and a host of other individuals to support you throughout your rotations and to support you in completing your qualifications. You will have access to tutors and talent coaches through Kaplan who will guide you through your qualifications.

What does this team do

Audit has a really important role in society, helping to protect the public interest. Accurate financial and corporate reporting is essential for businesses. It means that we are able to hold companies to account, maintain financial stability in the country and protect the consumers who rely on those businesses.  

Our team provides independent auditor reports, looking at both the truth and fairness of organisations’ annual financial statements. We want everyone who joins us to feel good about this role, and, as a well-known audit business, it’s important for us to achieve excellence in the quality of our audit work. 

The landscape for audit reporting is changing fast, driving demand and evolving our services. More and more, we’re using AI and other cognitive technologies to automate and standardise processes to drive accuracy and efficiencies, so focus can be prioritised on delivering a great product.

  • Portfolio Audit which spans a wide range of sectors including both emerging growth and large private corporates, real estate funds, pension schemes, financial services brokers and investment managers. Portfolio business offers the opportunity to work with privately-owned, dynamic, entrepreneurial and high growth businesses.

Soft skills 

To support you, we invest heavily in both your technical skills and soft skills (e.g. communication skills, ability to challenge, decision-making, resilience, project management and leadership skills). This includes building the skills and knowledge required to help you use developing technology such as AI to maximise your potential. These will help you to become a successful business professional and allow you to navigate different situations that you’ll encounter during your career. 

Qualifications 

As part of your BrightStart opportunity, you’ll be studying towards either the Associate Chartered Accountant (ACA)or Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification with either the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) or the Institute of Chartered Accountants Scotland (ICAS), depending on which country you’re located within.  

Both qualifications are globally recognised and are designed to expand your knowledge of a wide range of technical topic areas. They’ll help you confidently work on projects and initiatives, applying concepts learnt to your daily work, allowing you to develop professionally as you go. 

Whilst professional exams can be challenging, and will require a commitment from you, we in turn commit to providing you with the right support network to help you succeed. You’ll be given funded top-quality tuition, with a mix of classroom and self-managed learning sessions, a dedicated early careers coach, a People Leader and access to support from our professional education team.  

Our internal support network will guide you through your apprenticeship and qualification, provide pastoral support and sign off your training files. Your exam manager will have specific responsibilities such as managing course and exam enrolments for you, and your People Leader will oversee apprenticeship responsibilities such as attending your quarterly review meetings with you. 

We will cover the cost of all mandated courses, permitted exam attempts and membership fees required for your Professional Qualification.  We will also provide a specified amount of paid study leave to enable you to prepare for the exams required
