What does this team do?

Deloitte's Human Capital as a Service (HCaaS) team helps enable organisations to solve a wide range of business challenges, from HR and finance transformation to mergers and acquisitions and talent strategy. We offer clients specialised industry knowledge and leading-edge technology and business transformation services, delivered as ongoing, managed solutions. 

Human Capital as a Service professionals bring specialist skills in project and programme management, change and communications, as well as research, analytics and hands on experience of leading-edge software and applications.

Our Human Capital as a Service team is based in Belfast, Northern Ireland and sits within Deloitte’s Human Capital practice. It is the largest Human Capital Consultancy team in the UK outside of London.

The service areas our BrightStarts can join are as follows:  

Programme Management Office (PMO)

Our team of dedicated Project Management (PM) and Project Management Office (PMO) professionals provide comprehensive support for our client’s most significant and complex programmes, as well as strategically significant smaller projects.

Working closely with clients, we guide them through every stage of their projects and programmes, covering planning, risk and issue management, and performance reporting.

Our Brightstart programme cultivates future PM and PMO professionals by gaining practical experience as part of a programme’s PMO team, contributing to progress tracking, risk/issue management, and stakeholder reporting.

Transformation Activation (TA NI)

Our Transformation Activation (TA NI, otherwise known as Change Management) team is a multi-disciplinary team, that works with clients to deliver the people, behavioural and culture change associated with technology and digitally enabled business transformation. We support our clients to adapt to the changes required; ensuring they are ready, willing and able to support new ways of working. 

As part of the TA team our BrightStarts support with assessing, planning, supporting, or delivering business change, communication, engagement and training solutions that are not only innovative, but deliver the most positive impact for all.

What skills and academic qualifications do I need? 

  • You’ll need to have obtained or be studying towards at least 104 UCAS points (260 UCAS points pre-2017) for your A levels (or equivalent) to be eligible for this programme. 
  • In this role you will study towards Ulster University BSc Hons in Business Technology Degree qualification.
  • You will attend Ulster University for one day a week during term time and outside of term time you will be in our business 5 days a week.
  • This is a degree apprenticeship; therefore, you need to have not already completed a degree.

What kind of work will I do?

Every project and programme is different, but some examples of responsibilities include: ​

  • Creating a variety of high-quality materials for workshops, internal communications, project plans and progress reports.
  • Participating in project workshops and meetings alongside our clients – contributing to discussions, taking  meeting minutes and logging actions. 
  • Developing and maintaining strong client relationships by providing a responsive service, demonstrating a clear understanding of their needs and consistently meeting their expectations with your delivery skills. 
  • Providing advice and assistance to our clients, tailored to their needs. 

In addition to project work, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Proactively supporting our business development by getting involved with internal HCaaS teams including Community, Learning and Development and Wellbeing. 
  • Working on new business activities, such as bids for new client opportunities. Getting involved with our Sector communities, building out our offerings to clients and helping to promote our team to the market.
  • Our HCaaS Analyst Committee work directly with our Leadership team to ensure our Analysts Community has a voice. 

Where will I work?

How will I develop?

Enabling Functions - Quality Risk & Security Brightstart Programme

What does this team do?

The Quality, Risk & Security (QRS) team makes sure Deloitte operates with honesty and integrity. We build and manage systems to control risk, prevent financial crime (like money laundering), avoid conflicts of interest with our clients, and stay independent from them. We also ensure we follow all the rules and keep our people safe. We're responsible for making sure Deloitte can continue its work by meeting all legal and regulatory requirements.

What kind of work will I do?

You will be responsible for enabling the firm to do business, while proactively managing risk to protect our clients, people, assets, and data.  This apprenticeship enables you to experience different areas in risk and security within the business, enabling you to make an informed decision about your future career. This scheme is a rotational programme, with time spent gaining experience and understanding of key areas of the firm. These can include but is not limited to the following teams:

  • Financial Crime: You will learn how to risk assess clients and help make key decisions around the clients we take on and anti-money laundering requirements.
  • Personal and Firm Independence: You’ll learn about our regulations in relation to independence and support our people to comply with these.
  • Deloitte Business and Security (DBS): Working with our DBS teams you will help protect the firm from security threats. You will learn about cyber security, data protection, crisis management, physical security, vetting and much more.
  • Strategy and Operations: Our Strategy and Operations team is headed by the firm’s Chief Financial Officer. You will work with this team and learn how they make key decisions around the firm’s operations.
  • Contentious Matters: Our in-house legal team are key to protecting the firm. You’ll work with our lawyers to understand more about the legal side to risk.
  • Service Lines: You may get the opportunity to work with one of our service lines and get a taste of what it’s like to work with clients directly.

Joining on this programme, you’ll be joining alongside another like-minded colleagues. At the start of your programme, you will be part of an induction programme where you will learn a multitude of skills to help you become ready and feel confident working with our clients. You will also receive continued professional development support via your People Leader, local rotation managers and your buddy who will be assigned to you.  There will be a clear development plan to help you progress in your careers at Deloitte and lots of opportunities to give you the best experiences and variety across the firm.   • Level 6 ICA Diploma (Anti-Money Laundering/ Governance, Risk & Compliance/ Financial Crime Prevention) (Degree equivalent)
  • You will be provided 1 study day a week to focus on working towards your professional qualifications alongside paid study leave prior to exams.

You will have a network of other BrightStarts who are on the same programme alongside BrightStart Alumni who have completed the programme and moved into other permanent roles at Deloitte. You will have a dedicated People Leader to regularly check-in with and a host of other individuals to support you throughout your rotations and to support you in completing your qualifications. You will have access to tutors and talent coaches through Kaplan who will guide you through your qualifications.

As part of our Strategy, Risk & Transactions Advisory practice of over 2,000 professionals, our Ethics & Regulatory Compliance (E&RC) team help organisations to establish the frameworks, capabilities, processes and technology to manage evolving risk areas, navigate regulatory complexity, behave ethically and grow responsibly. 

Our team has a mixture of deep SMEs in a range of topics (e.g. Internet Regulation, Content Moderation, Competition, Anti-Bribery & Corruption, Data Privacy, AI, Ethics, Human Rights) and technologists who help solve challenges and improve efficiencies via technology as well as experienced risk and control professionals.   • Collaborating with senior stakeholders to understand the organisation’s requirements, at a process level, and how these can vary by function, location or region, identifying opportunities for AI-driven optimisation.
  • Developing expertise in particular areas of the system, such as Recruitment, Performance Management, Time & Attendance, RPA, integrations, reports or migrating data, with an emphasis on leveraging AI and HR AI technologies.

You will join a client-facing role working as part of a team of Deloitte Human Capital consultants to help our clients solve their problems. Responsibilities could include:

  • Working with client stakeholders to understand their requirements and helping them develop new solutions for these requirements. This could involve supporting an immersive workshop to help clients structure their thinking, define their problems and devise innovative solutions to help solve their problems.
  • Conducting research and analysis, drawing insights from the research and analysis and supporting to present back important findings to clients. For example, this could involve evaluating the impact of a new digital tool and recommending communication and training strategies for its successful implementation.
  • Assisting in creating visually appealing presentations and documents to clearly communicate findings and recommendations to clients, including clearly articulating the value proposition of AI-driven HR transformation. For example, this could involve creating reports for a large infrastructure project that summarises key findings and provides actionable insights to inform client decision-making.
  • Proactively working within the practice to support internal programmes and initiatives that align with business priorities and your own personal interests. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to work on new business activities, such as bids for new client opportunities.

What skills and academic qualifications do I need?

  • In this role you will study towards: BrightStart BSc (Hons) in Computer Systems Degree. You will attend Ulster University for one day a week during term time and outside of term time you will work 5 days a week.

  • No prior coding/configuration experience is required, however a broad interest in technology/digital tools and how they work is advised.

What kind of work will I do?

The kind of work you will do will differ depending on the area within Deloitte Digital.

Tasks include:

  • Helping to deliver projects for our clients, being a valuable member of the team from day one, collaborating with diverse and talented team members to help solve problems, improve performance and generating value for clients
  • Every project is different, but some examples of responsibilities include:
  • Creating materials for workshops, communications, project plans and progress reporting.

The Project Controller Group are a dedicated team of Finance Professionals based across multiple locations in the UK. Our purpose is to make sure that the projects we work on with clients follow all the right compliance guidelines and regulations, for finance and operations.

  • Management of project financials, including creating codes, billing and collecting cash.
